Perhaps romance is when a husband continues to work at a job that he does not enjoy, to help put his wife through school.īoth are humbling and sacrificial examples of real romance. Real romance is standing by your husband and supporting him during a time when he has lost his job and is out of work.

” And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.”Colossians 3:14 No matter the problem, how you responded and treated your husband/wife during these times determines just how romantic you are. It may have been financial, health issues, or fidelity problems. If you have been married any amount of time, then you have probably already faced some sort of trial. It is how we act and treat our spouse during the hard and trying times. However, romance in marriage is what we do in our everyday lives. Of course, this is OK to do every once in a while, lol. Being romantic in marriage does not mean spending money to jet off to some secluded beach. Romance in marriage looks nothing like the movies. “Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife and the two shall become one.” Genesis 2:24 After all, is humbling and sacrificial going to boost ratings and bring in millions? Probably not, but it will strengthen your marriage and bring you and your spouse closer to God.

Of course, this is not what the media wants you to think. However, I believe that REAL romance is what we see and do in marriage every day. It has to be full of gifts, trips, words from poems, and surprises. We have been brainwashed to believe that romance has to be just like the TV shows and in the movies. Or is it? What if everyday life was where the real romance existed? We envision someone sweeping us off our feet to a luxurious hotel room where the bed is covered in red rose petals and perfume. Are you a romantic person? Would you say that your husband or wife is romantic? Most of us have an idea of what romance is.
